Hello,
Can anyone compare Rainshadow ISB841 and Loomis DS820? Looking for a drop shot blank and want to know the difference on above two. Thanks in advance. Sammy Kim Re: Looking for a new dropshot blank

For starters, one is two inches longer than the other. One is a 0 power and one is a 1 power but that is not always consistent from one company to another. But looks to me like the Batson is longer and little more powerful.. Re: Looking for a new dropshot blank

Your lure weight and back end power requirements will determine choice.
If you are checking out drop shot mediums with plenty reserve back end please consider adding: Castaway XP3 813 to your list: 6'9" Length Line # 8 - 14 Lure Oz. - 1/4 - 5/8 PWR - Med Action - Fast Butt Dia. - 0.551 Tip - 5.5 Wt. Oz. - 2.0 Build using micro guides in casting or spinning version at a total build wt under 3.25 ounces and enjoy! [www.swamplandtackle.com] Re: Looking for a new dropshot blank

Dont forget to add the Batson RX8+ 822.5 or the more affordable RX7 822.5. Both are great drop shot blanks.

John answered your question. But I think you need at least a 2 power for a Drop Shot blank. I would be a little leary of a "0" or "1" power, not much hook setting muscle for Largemouth. Of course that's just my opinion. But a six lb Largemouth on a Drop Shot rig is a whole rod full of fish, especially on a 2 power blank. Re: Looking for a new dropshot blank

Sammy -- This is just my opinion, but I find the Loomis drop shot blank to be a bit on the light side. To me it is too soft a blank for drop shotting. As far as a Batson blank, the suggestions about the 822.5 model are right on. It is available in RX6, RX7, RX8 or the RX8+ models. Anotehr blank mentioned that is right on, is the 69 MLXF by St. Croix, whether in SC3, SC4 or SC5. All the blanks mentioned, whether by Batson or St. Croix are specificly designed for the technique or drop shotting. As a matter of fact, we have the Batson RX7 ISB822.5 on our web-site home page, as "Special Pricing", at this time.

Bob,
Did you have a misprint in your post on the Batson RX7 rod blank model in your post? I don't find that number on your web site. Thanks much Roger Re: Looking for a new dropshot blank

Thank you guys for your help.
Your inputs are greatly appreciated. I'll look into 822.5 blank soon. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
