I have a friend that I would like to build a rod for. It's a bit of a trip down memory lane. The rod we are trying to replicate is
6'6" spinning 2 piece 4-8lb mono mostly small hard baits(rapalas and the like) fishing small rivers The rod was purchased in the late sixties so I assume it was glass. He tells me it would cast these light baits a good distance. The new rod doesn't have to be glass. What do you guys think? thanks in advance Re: blank selection

You could try @#$%& or garage sales for an old garcia rod and do a restoration. I just found a couple of rods from that vintage that were being thrown away. They need a rebuild. A rebuild is harder than building from scratch, but it comes with some charisma. Re: blank selection

If you are trying to replicate the feel of his old fiberglass rod, then I would stick with fiberglass. Some of the sponsors carry fiberglass blanks. If none of these fit your needs, contact me, as I may have a source.

Anglers Workshop used to be my source for fiberglass rods. It has been a long time but Jim Britt used to have some that were not in his catalog and they may still have some in their warehouse. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
