Printing decal problem

My printer went by-by earlier this week so I had to go out buy another. I bought an HP Photosmart AIO C4440. Now I can't get it to print my decals right. My old printer only had a few settings and I found the "right" one pretty quick and it printed beautifully. This one has about 50 different paper choices and I can't seem to figure out which is the right one. When it's printed the color just isn't anywhere near as bright as my old lexmark. If it makes any sense at all, it looks as though it isn't putting out enough ink, they look almost like their faded when they dry. The printer uses HP Vivera and for those of you all using this ink, it came with 74 and 75 cartidges. I'm hoping someone is either using this printer or one similar and can give me a hand. Are you all using the 75xl or 99 color cartridges? Also I'm using the white vinyl from texascraft.

I'm not using that particular printer but mine is an inexpensive HP and uses the Vivera ink. I use the BEST setting and the Matte photo paper setting, NOT the HP photo paper setting. I am VERY happy with the decals and have one ( Photo of the person the rod is for) turning on a dryer right now

David,

I had a similar issue with a 9000 series HP Photosmart a few years ago and found that the photo cartridge printed not only brighter, but also more opaque than the standard cartridge did. Might be worth a shot.

David

Does it print OK on regular photo paper? If not you might want to run the diagnostics which is probably found in the toolbox.

Mike is correct on the settings for the white vinyl on most printers.

I tried it on the BEST setting with the matte photo paper with the same results. It prints photo's pretty well so I guess I'll try the photo catridge.
