First rod...reel seat question

I am building my first rod. 5-6' ultralight spinning rod. I would like to use a REC fly reel seat. My plans for the rod are to have about a 4" cork grip, the reel seat and then a 2 1/2" cork fore grip. What I need to know is if a fly reel seat comes without the butt cap attached? This way I can pass the reel seat through the rod. If this is not possible (i.e. all small fly reel seats come with butt cap attached or it is impossible to create a good looking transition between a cork grip and where the butt cap would go) is there anyone who sells a sharp looking reel seat (nickel silver fittings w/ a wood insert) for an ultralight spinning rod. I'm having trouble finding one. Thanks in advance, David Re: First rod...reel seat question

Most times the end cap is not glued in place. This allows you to ream or bore the insert to fit the blank. You could email REC (link to the left) just to be certain, but I'm pretty sure the end cap won't be adhered. ........... Re: First rod...reel seat question

I'm on my second rod and I was looking at getting a Fancy Seat. I found a couple at mudhole that have veneer Inserts. But I think you can just buy the wood inserts from REC. I think the front and back piece are available from Mudhole. Let me know if you are successful in using a fly reel seat for that spinning rod. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
