lmao! hahahahaha. Actually that was his brother, Masahiro Tanaka, that's why he left teh carpentry business to pursue his lifelong dream of [icthing for the Japanese national team. Unfortunately that left Hiro the task of handling 2 people's worth of work, and has prettty much eliminated any free time for him to build rods.

Too bad the US got spanked. Too many guys being non chelant about it. I can't understand how guys don't think playing on the world stage is less thrilling or less important then playing on your home turff. As a former pitcher I can say I always found it much more exciting to pitch to guys I didn't have hours of tape on.

You watched tape before you went out to pitch? When I was pitching there was no such thing as tape or for that matter computers or Television . Only the radio was all we had. LOL.

Billy you may have seen that Whitey Lockman of the old N.Y. Giants passed away this week. When I was working out in the Polo Grounds with them they gave me his away uniform to wear while I was working out with them since we were about the same height and build,. I made more enemies for him for not giving autographs when the early birds came to the ball park thinking I was him because of the uniform. That was in the early 40s and you could get a grandstand seat for a big $1.10. What did it cost to get on a party boat in the 40s. Did you ever see pictures of the people fishing on the boats wearing suits and ties and brimed hats. I wonder what people charged for custom rods in the 40s.

Glad I started this thread..brought out some history. Pro ball players, rock stars, I wonder what other history lurks within the current rodbuilding community.
