I want to try throwing those large topwater swimbaits for stripers ( like the 6"/3.5 oz & 8" / 4 oz. Lunker Punker's) so I figure I need to build something.
I am planning on spiral wrapping the blank. After a little research, I see that Batson has a new series of Swimbait blanks and the ISBW945 looks like it will fit the bill. The blank is 7'10", 15-30lb., and 2-6 oz. I love Batson blanks and use them all the time, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions for blanks that they like. Thanks... The Castaway XP3 "Big Show" is heavy duty blank with the following details.
BB 2 7' 6" 15 - 30 # 1/2 - 2 1/2 oz XH Mod Heavy Duty These blanks were a special purchase and offerred for the first time at the ICRBE. Rich Forhan picked one up, leaned on it and said it would make a perfect swim bait rod. I am presently extending two of these to the maximum of 7' 11" for Elites. Thse blanks are not listed on the Swampland Site as yet - use the Contact Us button or call the numbers listed. [www.swamplandtackle.com] Re: BIG Swimbait Blank

Bill, I was going to suggest the Big Show BB2 , but I couldn't remember the numbers and I couldn't find it on the site. I bought one from the show and unfortunately I had my dad take it to SC to his house, so I couldn't go downstairs and check. At least now I know I'm not losing my mind, LOL. Re: BIG Swimbait Blank

Bill, my name is Mike Thorson. I am the product & design manager for Batson Enterprises. I would suggest you take a look at our RX7 swimbait blanks. there are 4 models, but the one best suited for what you already picked, the ISWB945. that model should handle the bait ranges you are planning on using. Buy the way, these blanks feature modulus positioning technology and have three diifrent materials used throuh out the blank for thr correct balance of power, stregth and most important what I call fishability. These blanks cast themselves long distances with minimal effort from the angler.......a very important feature when you are chucking heavy baits all day. As a former Musky Tournement angler when I lived in the northwoods of Wisconsin(I worked in product design for St croix for 8 years)i have first hand exsperience how much it can where you down. If i can answr anything else let me know. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
