Do all thread sealers darken and dull color?I am using chromaseal and it looks a lot darker and dull over dark blue gudebrod cp nylon with white ncp trim thread. Will it look different after I finish it or not?It looks awful right now. What will happen if I dont use sealer? This is on guide wraps.

Regular nylon thread without CP will turn somewhat transparent without CP. When you apply CP, you may or may not lose a shade depending on the color of the blank underneath. When the CP dries, the color of the thread should come back up a bit, but it will be dull and without sparkle. However, when epoxy is applied the brilliance and sparkle will return.

WhenI did the original testing for Chromaseal, I noticed the Gudebrod Nylon colors were seemingly Opaque and dull, even after I applied finish. I was told onceitis takenout in the sunlight, the sparkle and brightness comes back. Chromaseal over Madeira does not have this same effect, only over the Nylon.

Any time you try a new product, test it. For anything, not just rodbuilding.
