Guide layout for new Shimano spinning reels - Wow!

Got a request to build a bass spinning rod to match a new Shimano Symetre - WOW! This thing has the spool swept up at such an angle it puts the choke guide right where I would normally put the butt guide!

Has anyone built a rod for or cast this year's Shimano's yet? It just looks like a guide layout for them would totallaly not be compatible with a "normal" spinning reel.

Thanks,
Marc

try the 27x method that Tom has recently introduced. I like it better than his previous version based on the upsweep of the reel.

Yep, Table edge wont work on that one !
Tom says up sweep is not a factor anyway. Gravity is taking the line toward the ground as soon as it leaves the reel spool. Makes perfect sense to me , so I would use the 27x method.

Using the upsweep of the reel spool was a Fuji recommendation. It was and is entirely random in nature and was based on their statement/assumption that most reels have an upsweep of roughly 4 degrees. As we know, that isn't always the case.

Use the 27X method and you'll be right in the ballpark on the first go around.

I am new to this, and have been searching for the 27x method on the board. I find threads about it but no link or explanation of the method. Can I get a link to the explanation of this method, or is this the static guide placement in the library?
Thanks

It's in RodMaker Volume 10 #4. The internet is a poor place for the latest rod building information - it has to trickle down from those places where it originates, which is usually somewhere other than the internet.

I used a random set up for a new Stradic 3000FI by just putting them where I thought they should go and test cast it for about 2 hours moving guides around until the plug I was using set sail.
