telescopic rods

A friend gave me a bunch of broken rods to see what I could salvage. I found 3 telescopic rods that were broken beyond repair. Each of the handles are in great shape so I was wondering, can I purchase 3 blanks with butt dia measurements the same as the broken rods and use them to rebuild the rods? I had inquired recently about building telescopic rods and how to buy the blanks but this is a different issue altogether.
Thank you, Steve Re: telescopic rods

I would think it would be very hard to find a blank that would match the taper of the handle section. Diameter is one thing, but if the tapers do not match you are not going to get a good fit when you extend the rod. Re: telescopic rods

If the butt sections are large enough to make oversleeves, use them as extesnion handles. You don't have to match the taper perfectly, build up any spots where they don't meet with thread or tape. Glue with RodBond or any suitable high strength, waterproof epoxy, and off you go, a fixed, permanent extension handle. Re: telescopic rods

Thanks for the input guys, I hate to waste perfectly good handles.
