i recently built a st croix 3c68mxf into a spinning rod. i used vs3 for the butt guides and size 3 micros and even went a little heavy on the epoxy( i was in a hurry). i used an amtack aero reel seat and carbon fiber split grips with no fore grip. the rod is very light and extremely responsive. i got a digital scale today and decided to weigh the rod. i thought it was light, but was surprised it was only 3.93 ounces. i have already come up with some modifications to reduce even more weight. i will have it at the show for anyone who wants to look at it and hopefully some other rods with new designs as well with the carbon fiber. Look forward to seeing it.
I think there will be a lot of rods there whose lack of weight because of Micro guides and creative engineering should inspire builders to continue thinking and working out of the box. Re: xmas M & M surprise

John
The measurement should be what we add , not the final weight. If we do the best we can, but are still not satisfied with the final weight, then we need a lighter blank. Assuming of course it will do what we want the rod to do. Bobby Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
