Help on decision

I was asked from a friend to fix a 6' 6" Eglass casting rod smashed 10 inches from the tip. To do it I need to remove the tip top plus 2 single foot in roder to sleeve it. I tried to remove the tip top in all ways desribed in this forum: lighter, steam, heat and wire pulling, faith, etc and no way.
This is a very expensive japanese rod so the tip top: Fuji Titanium Sic. I can cut the blank and try to clean the tip top tube for re-use and lost a half inch in rod lenght - or - sand the tip top tube wall, split and remove it and buy a new one keeping the rod length and original blank.
Looks simple to decide but for any reason the decision got hard to me!
Any help here?

It would depend on how much difference loosing the 1/2 inch would make to the rod. The sleeve is already going to change it somewhat so the lose may never be realized due to the repair.

Sounds like some serious adhesive was used, but I'd hazard a guess and say it's 5 minute epoxy. You may not be able to save the top, and 1/2 inch won't hurt the rod in the grand scale of things (repair) 10" down the blank will have a greater effect.

Cut through the blank right at the edge of the tip top and drill the remainder out. It's already a tight fit, so it probably won't fit further down unless you sand back the tip a tad, or use the bit to just open it out a tad.
