I'm going to be putting gimbals on four trolling rods. I think the lightweight nylon by Fuji would be fine but wanted to check first. It seems like the nylon are more than tough enough, lighter and would be easier on boat decks and fishermen feet! Or- am I overlooking something in regard to the anodized aluminum models? Is there any reason not to use the high end nylon type gimbals? Thanks. Re: Gimbals- nylon vs aluminum

Ken
I've used both aluminum and nylon for salmon/laker downrigger rods, both are good, but I suggest you get the butt caps that fit over them, esp for the aluminum. What size rods are you doing? Tom White Rod & Reel Restoration Re: Gimbals- nylon vs aluminum

I have several factory #30 trolling rods with nylon gimbals. They have a bunch of hours on them and the nylon gimbals have held up quite well. Having said that I install aluminum on all my rods to match the reel seat. Re: Gimbals- nylon vs aluminum

I prefer the Nylon gimbals. It seems that they hold up better and are easier on the boat as well as the fisherman.
Take care Roger Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
