Folks
Just for your info, just got off the phone with the claims dept of Purolator and found out my claim was denied. I was sent a box from Mud hole via Michigan through my Brother in law, he is my customs broker, in a box that was complete. He forwarded it to me using Purolator and when it arrived here it was taped together and bent at the 18" mark. Sure enough the rod blank that was in there is now 8" shorter. Also missing was a few other items Perma gloss and epoxy. No problem I will put in a claim and they should cover it as it is quite obvious that the box was damaged. WRONG!!!!! according to Purolator as soon as there is liquid inside the same box it becomes a non claimable item even though the liquid did not cause the damage. So now I am out the perma gloss and the epoxy and the rod blank and get to ship it all over again. I just want people to understand the fine print on the shipping forms before they get screwed over like I did. I know that I get parcels from whole salers all the time that have liquid and other stuff put together. Hope the shipper realise they are held responsible. I know that after the conversation with this company, where they never even said sorry for breaking your package, I will be shipping with someone else. You should really consider having the box shipped from MudHole DIRECTLY to your location. Re: Shipping with purolator

With the expense of the shipping and fed ex's brokerage fees plus the collection of taxes to Canada which I then have to get back in a rebate it is easier to ship to Michigan and broker in there where he has my Tax numbers and he doesn't charge me any fees.
It once cost me 45 bucks fees for a 45 dollar blank. Hard to make money that way. It was just a heads up to others who ship items together. Rolly Beenen Rovic Custom Rods Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/02/2008 04:15PM by Rolly Beenen. Re: Shipping with purolator

Your right about brokerage fees Rolly. I have everything shipped by USPS to Canada. In most cases it takes longer to get here, but at least the brokerage fees are not digging you into a hole. The downside to this though is that I have to carry a somewhat larger supply of stock on hand.

Harold
I also use USPS for everything that can be put in a small box but for rod blanks you got no choice. This is the first time in 8 years that this has occured and I am still very upset. Rolly Beenen Rovic Custom Rods Re: Shipping with purolator
