You can also use dental bands (tiny rubber bands) that you can obtain from any orthodontist. When I have stepped into an office and asked, they were always provided at no charge ... I even got a customer out of it once when the doctor found out why I needed them. They come in two main sizes - A or light 1/8" and B or heavy 3/16". They work great and you don't have to do any snipping, they are already bands. For small fly rods they are useful IMO, anything larger and I use tape. Mud Hole sells tape down to 1/8". 1/8" tape works great for me. I am working on a 2, 3, and 4 weight fly rods and the 1/8" tape worked great. I do plan on trying the tubing soon though. I also heard that hobby lobby or someone like that sells the stuff. Haven't lookd there yet. Matt White Re: Where to get surgical tubing?

Any medical supply company. Most cities are home to one - the kind of place that rents wheelchairs, has braces and bandages, convalescing aids, etc. Check your local Yellow Pages.

About the only thing left to add is "castration bands"... available at most farm co-ops, they are cheerio sized/shaped rubber bands and will hold nearly anything. Clyde Thomas Re: Where to get surgical tubing?

I have checked 2 medical supply places locally with no luck. WHen I was into RC cars the gas line used was silicone, would that not be bad to be rubbing all over the blank/guidefoot? I remembered that I have some jig skirt collars that I might use until I can find some tubing locally or order something else from Mudhole to justify shipping costs. Re: Where to get surgical tubing?

Green Cheerios! I know them well! Do you use the "aplication tool" to put them on? I have always been too afraid of crushing the blanks to use them on anything else but future steers. Those things have some real power. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/28/2008 07:14PM by Erick Krotzer. Re: Where to get surgical tubing?

Have no idea if they are silicon or not but I have been using the tubing from model/hobby stores for many years with no problems. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Where to get surgical tubing?
