Feathers sources?

Lots of great feather work in the photos-I'd like to try my hand at it. Could you who have been in this part of custom rod making give me some recommendations for the feather sources you use? thanks.

While I'm here. . .

We rodmakers are very fortunate to have this forum and the resources that sponsor it. I cannot come onto this forum without learning something of value. It is just impossible. In addition, the web site is so well designed that it really works fast, is very efficient. Great work to Tom Kirkman and all the people who are behind him in this endeavor.

Find a Salmon fly tyer and make nice..........buy him or her a cup of coffee...............do what it takes to find the sources from them....they are out there and the tyers know where the goods are. The tyers know the game and know where the feathers are.....also they will sell to you or give you scraps that will get you started.

I wish I could help, but I have enough feathers to make a million rods and I don't collect or seek out feathers much any more. But I do get some from Kate now and then, great source for the peacock pheasant.....nice feathers!

About the only feather I don't have an abundance of.... is the Indian Crow (Red Cotinga)..............but who does?..........Call me if find some of that.....Got a rod I am working on and I need several Indian Crow feathers to complete the rod......

Michael D.

Terry does some of the finest feather work I have ever had the pleasure
to view. I love his "eye candy"!
Terry created a couple nice photo tutorials in PDF format. Email me or
unhide your email address and I would be happy to share them with you.

Thank you for the comments about the feathers. I do have a wide selection of feathers for rod inlays,
fly tying and the arts.
