Kayak trolling rods?

I have been asked to build four kayak trolling rods for use on bass and rockfish in freshwater lakes. The customer wants to be able to troll crankbaits from 3/8 to 3/4 ounce in weight. Not having much experience with this type of fishing I would like to request help from the members here on specific action or blank models that would do the trick. I know he wants to stay with rods about 6'6" to 7' feet long.
THANK YOU! Re: Kayak trolling rods?

I'd use a blank with a light tip and good backbone, the light tip lets the crankbait swing further back and forth before the line/rod tension restricts it. It's the reason Hotshot rods were built like they are. I'd look at the Seeker BS706SB which is an S-Glass blank. They's have durable rod which is important in a kayak, and a fine casting or trolling blank for cranks, spinnerbaits and topwaters. Re: Kayak trolling rods?

I agree with Spencer but would definitly ask your customer if he fishes weedy lakes. I do this type of fishing once in a while here in Florida where all freshwater has lots of aquotic vegitation, both native and unwanted invaders from who knows where! I use a faster or heavier spinning or casting rod to pull those buggers out of the salad. I don't know where you are or if this aplies, just a thought> Snooker Pete Re: Kayak trolling rods?

Ken. I'm certainly no expert on kayak rods, but, I've asked alot of my kayak fishing friends "What would be the the # 1 thing you would look for in a Kayak rod " and most said "a rod that would easily clear the bow of the yak. Another thing to look at. Just my personal experience. Bill Larsen, Norske Rod Works Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
