Hint I took some dark green dye and put it in to hot boiling water. I used twice as mush dye as water. Let the cork set in the dye for 5 minutes with heat off. The I washed of all the cork. I used Burl, plane cork, green dried cork and cork sheets. After the cork had dried. I lightly buffed the cork. What happened was a lot of the dye buffed off due to the density of the cork. What was left, the dye filled in the imperfection in the cork and the cork took on a marbleized look. Then used cork sealer to seal the dye into the cork. Then to give it a patina look I used a old nylon sock and burnished it at a high speed. I wish my camera was not in the shop or I would have posted it. Just a thought about dyes. I did this using seprate rings, so when I glue them the fit has to be exact. Because when I sand I may take more dye off than I want to. If that happens I well have to tuch up the dye, if so it well also chang the appearnce. I may have to glue the rings to gather first, shap the grip the dye them
