Guide Number!!

Gidday Lads

I have just set out the guides for a 7'6" St Croix light spin rod with an extra fast action. I have ended up with 10 guides plus the tip. This seems like too many guides but with less, I get sharp angles between guides on the main curve.

Is 10 plus tip too many on a 7'6" rod? The handle is short at 12" overall. The NGC didn't work well. I ended up with vey odd spacings.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

The NGC, if set up per the instructions on the library page or in RodMaker Volume 10 #4, will work perfectly and you won't get any odd spacings. Are you trying to use somebody's generic guide spacing chart?

10 guides is more than you need on a rod of that length. 7 or 8 plus a tiptop would suffice nicely.

Yes.. that is what I thought. I will try again with the NCG.
