Hey Fellas,
Just wondering if anyone has experience with a 3-chuck dryer using only 1 drive and belts for the other 2. Is there any wobble with the belt chucks? Looking at purchasing a new dryer and a multi-rod dryer is what I need but wondering if there is a major difference between belt chucks vs. drive chucks. Thanks for any insight. Bof Re: Rod Dryers

Brendan check out this link:
[www.rodbuilding.org] it is a five rod dryer just cut it down to 3. If built well a belt drive will work just fine, the down side to belt is you have to stop the whole thing to chuck up another rod. Re: Rod Dryers

Anyone else have any thoughts on belt drive multi-dryers? Re: Rod Dryers

Brenden,
For distributed dryers as you speak about, a good choice for drive system is not belt but chain. With a chain, the hookup is positive, you don't have to have the tight tension that you have with a belt and it is very long lived. It is very simple to use something like bicycle chain and sprockets. Another very simple dryer is one that is built on a common pipe on which are placed 2 or 3 notched plywood circles. The rods are held in the notches with rubber bands, and there is no need for any drive belts at all. The drive shaft can be coupled directly on to the end of the motor for a very reliable dryer. Take care Roger Re: Rod Dryers
