I've been building rods a short period of time now, and seen drying motors from 4r.p.m. to 36 r.p.m.
I would like to know what the ideal r.p.m. would be! I would appreciate any & all info
Thanx in advance!

18RPM works well with just about any brand of epoxy finish out there.

Bob most of the motors you see advertised, are I believe they are called step motors. You can hand stop them for a second and they well reverse direction. Heck when I first started out I made my dryer turner out of a barbeque motor.

You said, yourself, that you've seen them from 4 to 36 rpm. That would tell you that different builders use that range of rpm ratings. You asked for the ideal rpm and Tom told you that. Do you want 40 or 50 people to tell you that 18 is the answer?

I suggest 2 kind and they both are near the 18 r[m range. Guys you got to remember he is a newbie at this. Hey I know a rod manufacture that uses the same speed recomended here.
