Is 5 days too long between coats?

So I put down my final coat of epoxy (threadmaster light) down the night before I left for a holiday. I checked the job the next morning before the flight left, and everything levelled nice and looked good, BUT, when I was scraping off the excess, I apparently did it too many times around the label area and now I have a scrap line under my label area.

I'm pretty picky and I don't like this. I didn't have time to put on another coat, and now that I'm back and it's been 5 days, can I apply one more coat to the label area, and will it adhere?

I believe my only other options are scrape it off (don't want to do it), or sand the area and add another coat (never done it before and worried that I will sand into the label or that I will see the sand marks when it's all said and done)

Thanks for your help.

You need to scuff the old finish lightly before application of the new coat. Just LIGHTLY knock the shine off is all the sanding thats needed. A piece of 600-2000 grit sandpaper is ideal, or a grey scuff pad.

I always put finish on op of finish and never scuff, and never have any of the problems I've read about. And that's using ThreadMaster. Scuffing can't hurt though,

Not sure what "scraping off the excess" is all about so I'll leave that alone.

If you all you need to do recoat the label area, just scuff it lightly and have at it with another coat. You'll be fine.

Do not wipe it with anything - alcohol, etc., Just scuff, dust off and coat.
