Thanks again for all the tips and advice and inspiration here. I am a ham fisted bull in a china shoppe kind of guy. This close up detail work is new to me. But hey you try new things, and see what happens right?
When my wife heard about the pink blanks at Mudhole I had to build one as my 4th rod. She picked pearl thread with black tags. I used pink thread with no CP for the hook keeper, it looks like the hook keeper just floats on the rod, kind of cool. I got some bubbles, I think from the CP, but maybe using high build didn't help. Next rod I'll watch that closer and not use the high build. But I'm happy with it. The Batson multi color guides look good to me. Hey if you build up a pink blank, why be subtle?! Just a note on the blanks, the paint is soft and nicks easily. If you're not a bull in a china shoppe kind of guy might not be a problem. :) here's the ramp, seat, rear grip and split grip [www.rodbuilding.org] the thread Gudebrod HT Metallic #521 9003 and black #521 001 [www.rodbuilding.org] side view [www.rodbuilding.org] the long shot [www.rodbuilding.org] Tom's book and the Flex Coat "Step by Step" booklet got me started. Before I built this one I picked up the new version of the Dale P. Clemens book. Wow, all great stuff. Rick Stuart KFOG FM San Francisco, CA Edited 3 time(s). Nice rod! The pearl really looks sharp, the way it goes translucent and shows the pink through the thread . Bet you got one happy fishing girl on your hands now. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
