Dear Friends,

I have few guide sets like this:

No brand marks, nothing.
As I can't define it's source (probably Asia) I would like to know:
How do you pick your guides? weight, material, finish, etc?
Is it possible and/or necessary some abrasion testing on the guides?
I would like to hear from you the way you choose this kind of critical component when outside the "mainstream" (Fuji, etc)

Regards,

Rogerio de Paula

Can't say who made that particular one but as far as I know (I could be wrong) all guides are made in Asia. Again, I may be wrong but I believe that ANY guide with inserts on the market today is more than capable of handling anything that can be thrown at it. I generally choose guides by things such as shape, color,, etc. I personally have NEVER seen a guide actually fail other than abuse and would feel perfectly comfortable using any guide that met mine or my customer's needs.

It appears to be a fairly close match to an American Tackle GCUE. or possibly Pac Bay LCTNG, but if I had to guess, it would be teh AmTak

I do not beleive it is a Batson guide. You might give Karry or Bill Batson a call. I am sure they know who built it.
