I was looking at the Diawa site and noticed that they only offer them for saltwater configurations...
What happened to the freshwater ones? I never fished one. Poor marketing? Lack of acceptance by the public? Honestly I was still surprised they were even being made. Re: Interline rods

Good concept but there are practical limitations involved.
With most companies, sales figures will tell the tale. If something doesn't sell in sufficient numbers, it's dropped from the line. ............... Re: Interline rods

Cabela's had their version of interline rod listed a while back both fresh and salt . Most guys did not like them cause they had to carry a long wire to fish the line through in the event of a break off , also the liners in them wore heavly with line abrasion and needed replacement often, neat idea but... The Daiwa and Shimano Innerline rods didn't sell because of several factors:
First, a little history: Lew's had innerline poles many moons ago. They included a little roll of wire to dthread the line through.the rod. First; the little coil of wire would make Houdini envious. I know that I replaced them on a regular basis. Somewhere, there is a big pile of little coils of copper wire. It would make your whole day when you broke a line. You couldn't find the little coil of wire. Creates a complete new vocabulary. Secondly: Every critter that makes a web will set up residence inside. These webs are hard to remove. We used high pressure streams of water or air. Thirdly, every piece of flotsam and jetsam in the water will tend to clog up the innards. Again the water or air treatment if you carried an air compressor or high pressure water on the water. Most people don't. We usually epoxied guides on the outside and used them that way.. To make it short: Too much hassel involved when you could use rods with guides outside. . C2 Re: Interline rods

they were decent action and all that, pain to thread, but with trolling ones that i used you rarely have to worry about re-lining on the boat (this is freshwater bigwater trolling). big problem was with spiny water fleas.... would clog em all up. what a pain in the arse. I know some folks that still use em, but when the spiny fleas are around, they are a pain sometimes. Re: Interline rods

I never had any of these problems. I just flushed the rod back at the dock by taking the plug out of the top section.
I think it's an excellent rod and own two. Uncle Russ Calico Creek Rods Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
