At one time there was a fellow in Virginia Beach that carried them. I have lost his contact info, however. You might try some fishing shops in that area and see if they know who it was and if that person is still involved.

Mike

I see that SummerMoon lists the Zziplex on their website: [www.summermoonrodworks.com], (but no link to the specs.)

It seems a lot of people talk about them in Europe. What makes them different from what we have over here?

At one time, they (ZipPlex) were what were known as "zoned action blanks" and were highly favored by long distance surf casters. Other than the original Fenwick Big SurfSticks, there was not much else on the American market that catered to this contingent.

In the past decade many worthy competitors have come to the forefront. Seeker may have been the first to follow Fenwick with their CSU series which were also very fast action surf blanks, but maybe more suitable for general fishing than the Fenwicks were. Loomis, All Star (and Breakaway) offer similar blanks today as well.

Not that the ZipPlex isn't still good - it is. But you may be able to find similar blanks with similar actions produced right here in the US.

The OutCast blanks are a more recent product, but I believe Ken Kimura has discontinued them recently.
