I want to know if there are custom rod builders that can or will, provide training classes for custom rod building in central California. I am retiring to Cathays Valley, between Mariopsa and Merced, western Sierra foothills, and I want to learn to build custom fishing rods. Thanks, Jay

I live in Ripon, just North of Modesto, and am preparing to do a class for my local fly fishing club, the Stanislaus Fly Fishers.
We would be meeting once a week (not sure which day yet) starting the week of 6/16.

We will not, however, be doing what you would call "custom" building. It is a beginner's class.

Send me an e-mail if you are interested...

Jay,
You also might want to look in the Builder's Directory at the top of the page and find builder's in the area. Most will be glad to take a new builder under their wing.

If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!!
