I have not personally used it, no, but think it would likely work.
Swifty Mfg. has released a new marbling kit that contains 8 colors of pigment. They say that these have been formulated to ensure that the working characteristics of the epoxy are not changed whatsoever by the addition of the pigment. .............. Re: marble

The pigment kit from swifty is great, however I don't like some of the colors. The red and green are very flat and the red especially is more orange than red. Some of the tap plastics pigments have better color ranges.

According to Tim, you can blend the colors to get the particular shade you want. (There are only 4 real colors in anybody's assortment anyway - everything else is just a combination of those in some ratio.)
TAP pigments are certainly known to work well, too. ............... Re: marble

Ive heard alot about using the pigment in 'Testers' (spelling?) model paints. Are there many disadvantages to them? Do they alter the properties of the epoxy?

Put enough in there and yes, you can alter the characteristics of the epoxy. Also, it's hard to get just pigment from the Testors bottles - you almost always pick up some of the solvent, which you really don't want in the epoxy. It works okay - I've used it quite a bit, but it's not likely the best product for doing this.

I generally use TAP, but just tried Swiftys stuff and really like it. Like Tom said, with the colors in the kit you can custom blend any color that you can imagine. I use the Testor's METALLIC paints and allow to settle a day or so and pour off all of the solvent. I haven't found the regualr Testor's to be very useable. I appreciate all of the comments. However, I am still wondering if there is anyone out there that has tried the pro-tec powder paint. I also have found the same disappointing results with the Testor's. The best results I have found thus far is Pearl-Ex. Really do enjoy the correspondence. I am planning on trying the Swifty, thanks to all of ya'll. Re: marble

If you try the powder paint, be sure to let us know! They have some cool colors! I have some and I might play with it on a scrap piece. The main problem that I can see is that it would cost a bundle to get an assortment of colors. I have Pearl-Ex. It is very nice but also quite expensive as is Pro Tech. To get a large variety of colors will cost a pretty good amount. I do a lot of marbleing and for under $20, I can get enough pigments to last me a couple years and make just about any color I can dream up. If you haven't tried the Testor's mettalics, give them a try. They are awesome. Make sure that you drain all the solvent off and just add small amounts with a toothpick to the epoxy until you get the intensity you want. Swifty was supposed to introduce another kit of colors at the West Coast show. I believe Tim told me they were pearl or meatallics. Did that come to fruition Mark, Doc, or anyone else that was there? Bill in WV Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
