I'm about to start building a 9'0" 8wt. 3-piece Fly Rod for Saltwater use; Flats Reds and Speckled Trout (upper TX coast) Gonna use Pac-Bay Single Foot wire guides and SiC Strippers. Any suggestions on what guide sizes to use? I'm closely eyeing the Loomis IMX blank to build on. Anyone have any comments/suggestions about this blank and the application I hope to use it for? Thanks! Re: 9'0" 8wt. Guide & Blank ?s

16 SVSG - 12 SVSG - then SG 7's on out. Or if you have large line to leader connections, use SG 8's on out. In the Pac Bay wire single foots, I'd say the 3's or 4's would be fine for all your running guides. ......................... Re: 9'0" 8wt. Guide & Blank ?s

I built the IMX. I would ask you to seriously consider using SiC single foot guides rather than the wire ones. I think that you will get a better performing and also looking rod. Just my humble opinion. Tom Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
