On my GLoomis N1382 Noodle blank decal, does the IGFA 4 stand for a #4 line rating? The lure rating is a whopping 1/16 - 1/8. I hope to catch some noodles with it this summer. Thanks. Re: What does IGFA 4 mean on my noodle rod?

From Loomis site
N1382-2 (GL2) Granite 11'6" 2 4 4.5 0.32 Slow Ultra-Light 26744-01 $115.00 4 stands for 4 lb line to qualify for IGFA record, you can use heaver line but then you don't qualify for a record class fish. Re: What does IGFA 4 mean on my noodle rod?

Yes and no. The IGFA #4 rating indicates a 2kg. or 4lb. rating. But, an IGFA rated line is intended to break at or below the rated # test. A "premium" line is intended to break at or above the # test rating. So, your #4 'noodle' rod is rated for 2lb. premium line or a 2kg. (4lb.) rated IGFA line. I know that Original Stren 2lb.test is rated at 4lb. IGFA. Tim posted whlie I was typeing, I type slowly. If at first you don't succeed, go fishing, then try, try again. Edited 1 time(s). Hey Ralph, how you doing.
When fishing for a record fish you have to send in enough line that you used for IGFA to test so as to confirm that you didn't cheat, lots of other rules you have to follow also. I'm doing a lot of reading right now on IGFA rules because, health permitting, I'm going to start doing some world record fishing starting in Aug. 08 Re: What does IGFA 4 mean on my noodle rod?

How the IGFA works is say you are using 4lb line and you catch a world record. You send in your line for testing and it tests at 5lb. then the fish you caught will not qualify for the 4lb line record but if it is still heavier then the 6lb record you will get that record. If the line over tests it goes to the next class that it would qualify for. The rod has nothing to do with that except it must comform to certain length and handle requirements. So even though your rod says IGFA 4 you can use heavier line with it and still catch a record . Scott Re: What does IGFA 4 mean on my noodle rod?

A "class" line breaks at or below the rating. A "test" line breaks at or above the rating.
The rod is intended to be matched with a line that breaks at or below 4.4 pounds. You can use a heavier line, of course, just as mentioned here. The rod rating is just a suggestion for a particular line or record class. ........ Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
