Hi,
I enjoy threads like this. It is a good read as I learn what rod designers in other parts of the country are going thru trying to make the perfect rod. You guys must have real perfectionists for clients. I hope you all charge them lots of money to get such excellent fish catching tools. Well it looks as if I am the real weiner (whatever that means) on this thread. Most of my rods end up on a boat with lead sinkers attached to them so the bait hits the bottom. Maybe I am a Pied Pipper leading all these anglers astray with their Capt Neil rods and asking for more!!! E GLASS baby!!! Perception, perception and more perception. Learned that from the DEC and the fish regulations they shove down our throats!!! Seriously I am looking forward to not only meeting you guys at the Show but having you explain your theories to me and seeing the end product. It is going to be a HOOT! I'd like to think our tests and results have moved us past theories on rod spine. For at least 15 years now, we've known it makes little to no difference.
Again, what you do with it is totally up to you, but we do want new builders to understand that it's impossible to spine a rod incorrectly and that spine orientation has little to nothing to do with accuracy or rod twist. Beyond that, what they want to do with it is up to them. It's just important that no one get scared away from trying that first rod building project because of all the rod spine myths floating around. There's nothing to be worried about. ..................
