I searched the archives but couldn't find any posts on staining cork. Anyone doing it? Is it possible? Will cork absorb stain over time? I thought of trying an experiment, take some cork rings and sink them in some wood stain for a few days to see if they would take on the stain throughout the entire ring. I realize I could probably stain the outer surface, but after turning down or sanding it would be removed. Any input or experience? Re: Staining cork

Elrod it has been tried before with poor results, however unlike the finish problem you just might come across a stain that works great that others haven't tried, new ideas and even some old are always worth testing. John Re: Staining cork

I have had success colouring cork(accidently) with furniture wax. I do it purely to seal the cork and to give abetter grip, but you may be able to find coloured furniture waxs in your area Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
