Raiders Tiger Wrap colors?

I have a sturgeon rod to build for my Mom. Would like to put a tiger wrap on it but but not sure what colors would work out when a football teams colors are black and silver? I plan on building the rod with black/silver Sulky trimmed with black and silver trim bands. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Phil

I am by no means an expert at the tiger wrap but....having done a number in the past couple months I find myself doing test wraps before hand. I take a 1/2" dowel rod, paint it black, and then do a 3" test wrap. This gives me a good idea what the finished product will be. High contrast colors seem to work best but some combos I've tried, that I thought would work, did not look good at all. Have not tried the black silver combo...........Have you tried San Diego colors??????? ;-)

Black and silver on the bottom with black over should give you what you're looking for.

I'd go with metallic black and metallic silver on the bottom, about 3 or 4 coats of finish, and then metallic black over along with whatever thread for a sacrificial thread, Phil.

A waterslide decal of a Raider's helmet on top of the 2nd to last coating in the middle of the Tiger wrap might look pretty cool, too (before the last coat of finish and before the top wrap).

When the picture opens click on it to get a larger frame. I have done several like this and it is my favorite.

I find that if metallics are used on top the "effect" is minimized. I think it is caused by the light being reflected away from and not being diffused by the top thread.

Bill, That's what I'm talking about! Beautiful! That's the one that inspired the last Black and Gold Tiger I did. Phil, you can't go wrong with a wrap like that one. Very classy.
