I'm getting ready to build a mini rod dryer, drum style for multi piece rods, I need some multi piece section measurements please. I have three multi's right now but they are all the same length. 3's to 7's Re: mini rod dryer

I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at, but would think only you can answer what you are looking for based on the rods you will be using. Re: mini rod dryer

Tim,
If you're looking for lengths of sections that is very easy, take the number of sections and divide the # into the total length of the rod. All fly rods I've built have sections that are equal in length. take for example: 9 Foot fly rod- 4 piece 108 inches divided by 4= 27 inches per section This formula can be used on most everything except some of the British Surf casting rods, that vary their lengths in each section Re: mini rod dryer

Joshua, what I'm building is a mini drum dryer, on each end there is a piece that has 7-10 notches, a shaft from end piece to end piece, so I can dry a 9' fly rod that is 4 or 7 piece's with out having to put the rod together and use up a complete rod dryer,or I can dry just 2 or 3 sections if I want. When I build this one that will give me 5 dryers to work with. I seem to be building a lot of 1 piece rods of late but I have several multi piece rods among them.
Dave, I know that the formula that you gave is spot on but I don't have all the different blanks at my disposal, what I'm asking is for people that have different rods, to measure and post the section length's so I can build my drum dryer on an average of the different length's. It is also possible that I may have to build it so I can move the one end piece to accommodate all the different lengths. Re: mini rod dryer

Also consider you might have to move it around to accommodate different guide locations. Re: mini rod dryer

Don't worry about all the possibilities of various lengths. The dryer will take any length - if - you have an assortment of small diameter extensions that you can slip into the butt end of each piece. Dowells will work fine. You may be too close to the forrest. Re: mini rod dryer

Hi Tim, Are you going to be drying more than 4 rods at a time? I uploaded a picture of my dryer. It was built like a coffin. Plexi windows in from with 4 lights connected to a dimmer switch so as to control the temperature of the unit as I dry rods. If Andy Dear wants 73.28573654920428 degrees as optimal for the Threadmaster, I now GOT IT!!! The backer board unit is a flex coat 4 place drying set up.
So, unless I did not fully understand your question - this may serve you as just another idea for what you on contemplating.... Terry Re: mini rod dryer

Tim,
Put the 'ends' 12 inches apart. Won't hurt anything for the blank sections to 'hang over' on one (or both) end(s). Buddy Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
