Glue Cleaning

I glued a reel seat today with Gorilla Glue. The seat was well taped to prevent the glue from getting on it, but there were a few areas of the knurled seal that abuts the cork that had glue on it.

Even wiping with denatured alcohol and it's still there- anyway to remove this without trashing the seat altogether??

Not really sure without a picture but I have gently removed overrun Gorilla Glue with a sharp xacto blade and a dental pick......You have to be careful but.......................

Gorilla Glue is tough stuff ... may I suggest that you try U40's Rod Bond in the near future. Easy cleanup, super strong and yet flexible.

Gorilla glue and most of the urethane expanding glues can only be cleaned up mechanically once dry. That means scraping or sanding. I have yet to find something that will act as a solvent.

You may want to try U40 Brush Cleaner?

Gorilla glue has a learning curve on how much is enough so maybe next time use a reel seat shim with Rod Bond works for me and clean up is a cinch.
