Flex Coat Rod Building & Repair Starter Kit

From what I've read I know I can start with very little materials, but would this give me a better head start. All the materials I need? Is it overkill, to much stuff I won't need and would I be better off buying things individually? I'm really excited about starting this hobby, so any help/tips for a beginner are appreciated.
