I recently used a Testor's cap to replace my broken plastic Permagloss cap. Got to thinking about the screw in a small paint can preservation technique I have read about here. Would a screw in the metal Testor's cap accomplish the same thing? Pesco Ergo Sum Re: Permagloss and a Testor's cap

Sure would Bruce, but you'll find it's not needed. Just replace the metal cap on tight everytime.

Putting a screw into a metal cap will not help preserve PG. The can with an eyelet screw opening below the liquid surface works very well. There are two saturated solutions in the can of PG. One is the vapor and the other is the liquid PG. Of the ways to extend PG shelf life, I beleive the can is the best and it is readily accessible on the bench. Joe can also set you up with cans and PG. I just got an order from him and I now have the best stash of 1/4 pint cans in SC! Re: Permagloss and a Testor's cap

OK, I hate to be the idiot new guy to this but how I'm going to be. How does the can trick work? I haven't used PG yet but I have some on the way to use. I am eager to use the stuff but I am learing that preserving it is complicated. I have been reading up but just can't figure out how the "screw in the paint can" trick works.
