Guys,
I've battled with fiberglass drywall tape, and it's always been a pain, especially when using a glue like Titebond or gorilla glue when you have to moisten both surfaces, and the tape keeps unraveling. What I did today cured all my issues. I used two quick dabs of hot melt glue and it worked perfectly. Now I know when I put the reelseat over it after I've applied the adhesive it won't unroll. Thanks for that idea! I have used superglue to stick it down, but that is a little messy. The hot melt is a much better idea. Re: Drywall Tape

Thats a good idea Dave , Thanks.
I always use a 1/4" wide strip of masking tape to secure each section when I get the fit I want. I then use an ice cream stick to spread and push the Rod Bond down through the mesh to the blank and in the spaces I left. I just leave the tape on it. I will have to try your method with the hot glue gun. Re: Drywall Tape

I've always started with 2 wraps of mesh tape on the blank. Slap some rod bond on, then continue wraping the mesh tape on. When complete, I put 6, or7 wraps of thread to secure. There is no need to tie off the thread, as the glue holds it in place. Re: Drywall Tape

I use the Flexcoat foam arbors to attach my reel seat to the blank. Forget the Dry wall tape much easier.
