Since I'm don't have enough alconites for this new lamiglas 9' 6wt project I
been thinking about using the Baston "F" guides. Never used a taming guide and am looking for some input as to what size tamer guides I need. Oh, as an after thought, I'm wanting to use single foot guides for the strippers and do you happen to know which guide best fits that agenda? Normally I'd use one stripper and 10 blag 6's for the setup. Now I'm stepping into unchartered waters and looking for input. Re: Baston F guides

Nothing really different Ron. I personally wouldn't add a tamer unless the rod tells me to in casting tests.
You just set up the guides like you normally do and use either a #10 F guide as a stripper or a single foot spinning guide of your size choice. After the rod is all set up put a guide 1 size smaller than the stripper about 4 inches in front of the stripper with tape and go out and see if it casts better than it did without, if it does wrap it on, if not you haven't really wasted any time or money and learned something. So far I haven't built one that needed a tamer. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
