Odd Loomis spacing

I am building a Loomis IMX 3 4 weight piece (9 ft. F1084) and to begin my spacing of guides, I thought I'd begin by placing the guides temporarily on the marks suggested by Loomis. The sixth guide down, according to their suggestions, falls just below the ferrule. Is this just a mismeasurement on their part? I can't imagina not having that guide be 1/2" higher and be on the bottom of the female ferrule... any experience here?
Thanks, Dan Re: Odd Loomis spacing

They put them where they put them. You can do better.

On my GLX, 9', 4wt, 2 piece, the 6th guide is at 37.5" from the tip. Re: Odd Loomis spacing

On a 3 piece, it,s the same, which puts it just below the ferrule... odd. They can't do that on their production rods, can they? Re: Odd Loomis spacing

Yes they can, and do. They're using generic spacing for a 9 foot rod, regardless of number of pieces or taper.
