Odd Loomis spacing

I am building a Loomis IMX 3 4 weight piece (9 ft. F1084) and to begin my spacing of guides, I thought I'd begin by placing the guides temporarily on the marks suggested by Loomis. The sixth guide down, according to their suggestions, falls just below the ferrule. Is this just a mismeasurement on their part? I can't imagina not having that guide be 1/2" higher and be on the bottom of the female ferrule... any experience here?
Thanks,
Dan

They put them where they put them. You can do better.

On my GLX, 9', 4wt, 2 piece, the 6th guide is at 37.5" from the tip.

On a 3 piece, it,s the same, which puts it just below the ferrule... odd. They can't do that on their production rods, can they?

Yes they can, and do. They're using generic spacing for a 9 foot rod, regardless of number of pieces or taper.
