Date: November 18, 2007 11:45PM I bought all components and sent them off for a build on a Rainshadow blank.and I have a ? for you guys. How many people use P-LINE XX or Fluorocarbon Clear?? I've heard of many catching fish of all sizes offshore and inshore on the stuff, and I use it on all my reels and never have had it to happen to me. But I'm having a rod built and this person told me to keep a watch on the guides because the Floro-line might cut them as it has some already. Has anyone ever heard of it Cutting Guides or any ATC titanium coated guides? are they worth it?. ANY Information Please. To calm me down,,these things cost 90. I will be getting this rod by Wednesday So I'll be looking at the guides real close, because they were in great shape when they were sent off, slick as glass. I build a few trolling rods for charter captains on the Chesapeake bay - at least one of them also trolls for tuna and wahoo in the ocean. These rods are used, during the spring striped bass season, with 80lb test braided lines. I use American Tackle (BGSG / BLG/ BBLG) the BGSG has the gold TIN coating. Understand that these rods are used 8-10 hours/day and an average of 5 days/week. I have yet to have one come back with a cut in the guide ring and some of these rods have been in use for 7-8 years. The only 'issue' I've had with the ATC TIN guides are on spinning rods which was caused by mishandling the rod - they do NOT like trunk lid hinges at all. Deform the supporting ring and the ring breaks - as would any guide. Rest at ease. Re: P-LINE Verses ATC Titanium Nitride Casting Guides

I would have to see that for myself!! I doubt that any line will nick or groove the ceramic guides Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: P-LINE Verses ATC Titanium Nitride Casting Guides

I'm with Mike!
I use P-Line Floro and Haylo extensively and have never seen a problem. Re: P-LINE Verses ATC Titanium Nitride Casting Guides

Ken - there is no way any fluoro or co-polymer line will damage any guide - you could put the cheapest of the cheap guides on there, and fluoro won't touch it. I would encourage you to get more info from whomever you have building this rod for you - do they have any examples? Re: P-LINE Verses ATC Titanium Nitride Casting Guides

Flourocarbon won't even cut wire guides, so I can readily assure you that it will NOT even scuff a ceramic one ... as others have mentioned, not even the cheapest of ceramics would be affected. Re: P-LINE Verses ATC Titanium Nitride Casting Guides

It may be that you are thinking of the braided lines - but even there I would be surprised to find braided line cutting into msot of the guides out there - especially not anything ceramic and produced recently. Try them and good luck fishing! Re: P-LINE Verses ATC Titanium Nitride Casting Guides

I agree Guys, I've never even heard of it cutting any guide, ain't no way it could cut the ATC-TNC's, They Gaurantee them not to be groved by the best of braids.
Do anyone else have a opinion on this guys remark?. I'm going to send them his way tomorrow night and see what he saus after that . Thanks for the replys so far. Kenny Re: P-LINE Verses ATC Titanium Nitride Casting Guides
