I may be wrong, but I believe that Paul already has a butt wrapping tool and want to know what the aluminum or a plastic gadget is for, and how to use it.

Paul, the aluminum plate slides down onto the blank for you to mark a straight line down the axis of the blank when doing crosswraps. It is a very useful tool. Using a circle template, you mark where you want the crosswrap lines to be, two axis, four axis, etc., then drop the aluminum plate down even with the dots that you made and with a china marker mark the lines down the axis of the blank. You then use that line to center your wraps along the blank.
