is the standard wrap length that should be used on ferrels? or should the wrap be just small enough the support the male end, or should it run the whole length the female end is in? Re: length of ferrel wrap???

2 X diameter is the most common recommendation Re: length of ferrel wrap???

Be sure it's long enough for a guide foot if your going to mount one on top of the wrap. Re: length of ferrel wrap???

The important thing is to prevent a split-out from starting at the edge of the female ferrule. So get the wrap close to the edge and wrap snugly - a bit more thread tension than you might use on your regular guide wraps.

If possible when wrapping a ferrel have the 2 sections together. Some time you can wrap to tight and the 2 peices wont go together.

A two piece can become a one piece rod when you wrap with the 2 pieces together. Don Don Becker Re: length of ferrel wrap???

Right, notice I said snugly, not tight. You can overdo anything.

I'd suggest at least 1/8" wide, beginning at the very edge of the female ferrule.
Also don't forget to put the two sections together and make the point where you want the wrap on the male end to begin, which needs to be spaced at least 1/8" lower than the end of the female ferule to allow for wear over time.
