Wormhole in EVA

Guys,

Last night I was doing some finish sanding on a Black EVA grip (grip is already on the rod) when I discovered a pin hole in it. The hole was not there originally, but it looks like I uncovered it with sanding. It looks like a worm hole in an apple, it's small and I doubt it would ever be noticed by the fellow I'm building it for; but I can't live with it.

I'm wondering if any of you have a suggestion for filling it; I'd hate to have to remove the grip now, but if that's the only fix I'll have to. I don't think sanding further will make it dissapear it appears to be deeper than I want the finished grip to be.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Walt

I've seen these before, and a LOT bigger than a pinhole. If I had to guess...I've never seen it in BLack Customgrip, but have seen int in lighter CG colors. The Mooseskin blocks I've seen it a bit more. If I had to put a guess I'd say about 5-10% of the blocks I've played with have this. I assume it is from an airbubble before teh EVA dries? I dunno much about teh Manu process of EVA.

To fix - I usually cut that piece out and discard it. The only tim eI've had to fix a hole in an EVA grip is when I rested a freinds rod up against a Halogen lamp and burned a hole the size of a quarter.TO fix, I took my exacto and trimmed a perfect square around the burn, and dug almost down to teh blank. I then took a spave grip and cut teh same size square "plug", an dcontact cemented it in, and sanded. It was barely visible.

To fix your grip, I'd look to do the same, fillin gin the hole with another EVA "inlay".

I made a repair like that recently doing just as Billy said, with one exception. I didn't trust myself to make freehand cuts that would match good enough, so I used a piece of brass tubing (like sold in hobby shops) and sharpened one end and used it with a twisting motion to cut both peices. It turned out undetectable.

Royce's suggestion is the way to go. Well done, the repair is almost invisible.

What you call a worm hole is just a small air bubble or pocket that was trapped in the liquid EVA.
