Planer Rod Blank

Plan on building a planer rod for offshore trolling using bridle rig & #16 planer (maybe #12). For a blank, I was looking at the pac bay X80STUBBIE 43" w/ #24 tip. Put on UB4 curved unibutt w/ swivel tip. Any suggestions if this blank is heavy enough. Will be building rod similar to those pics posted by Jay Lancaster. May need something w/ a #30 tip but not too sure without actually handling them. Thanks

I think the blank would be fine I would just cut it down for the 30 tip. I am going to make a dredge rod for an electric 130 and that is what I was going to do.
