Sage blanks

I have a sage blank on the way and was wondering, I was told that the ferrels on some blanks come prewrapped and finished. Do all sage prodicts come this way? This is fine if you are using the same thread, and if you use or don't use CP, and if the manufacturer uses or doesn't use CP??? What if your color scheme doesn't match well with their wraps and you don't want their colors what to do then? If you remove this does it void your warranty????

Whoever told you that gave you some bum information. Ferrules don't normally come wrapped and finished. Perhaps you misunderstood what they were trying to tell you.

I am not getting a rod just the blank. That is why I asked because I had never heard of such a thing. The dealer I am getting it form never mentioned it, a buddy on another site mentioned it when I talked about the color scheme I was looking to use. This is the wrap I am doing on a StCroix right now and thought the same colors woudl look nice on the sage

I would call who - ever you bought the blank from and ask regarding the warranty issue,,, ONLY AFTER I RECEIVED THE BLANK and verified what you have been told.

I find it strange, and have never heard of it myself.

Many...Many...Many years ago I purchased a spin blank that had a spigot type ferrule [type that was slid over the tip section] that was
wrapped with a matching color thread to cover the transition line...I was curious so I cut thru the finish and thread to find a bevel sanded spigot that was epoxy glued and ramped. As I recall this was a expensive type blank with a deep brown color much like the Sage...now I am not saying this was a Sage but in the seventys they made alot of spin rods also, and maybe this friend is a oldie like me and recalls these type ferrules. In todays world these are not acceptable as far as I am concerned.

i've never seen or heard of it with a sage blank.

i did however have an older scott G2 series fly blank with spigot ferrule have one side pre-wrapped. I emailed them and they said that at one time they did send out blanks this way.... weird if ya ask me. i asked if it was ok to unwrap and re-wrap (for warranty purposes) and it was said to be fine with them..... when it came in i was kinda flabbergasted when i saw it.
