Hi all;
This is my first post here. I have learned a lot from reading this forum for the last few weeks !! Anyways, I just received a Five Rivers FTL803-6 kit from Dan Craft but it did not have any recommended guide spacing info included. Dan did say to make sure to wrap the ferrules to a length at least twice the width of the blank. I got the single foot guides, they look to be very light ones, and the cork handle and reel seat with rings. Any ideas for the correct guide spacing ? Very best regards; Bob Re: Guide spacing on Craft - FTL803-6

This is what I did for mine - you can tweak as necessary:
1) 1 stripper in size 8, then 8 running guides (as small as you can go with your knots) and a tip top. I'd recommend size 0 wire guides or smaller for a 3wt. Size 6 or smaller if using ceramics. 2) Space according to St. Croix spacing chart for 8' light weight fly rod (available on their website) 3) Place rod under load and look for smooth distribution of load along the length of the rod 4) Make any adjustments necessary (usually minor if any) and wrap it. Coat wraps with 2 coats of Permagloss for extra thin and tough-as-nails finish. Re: Guide spacing on Craft - FTL803-6

Hey Steve and the gang;
I just got off of the phone with Dan. Here's his "starting" recommendation for the light weight single foot guides and this rod: 4, 9, 14.75, 21.50, 29, 37.25, 46.375, 56.50, 68.50 inches (all from the tip top of course) . These are pretty close to other stuff I have read, so I feel pretty confident this is a good starting place; OF COURSE any additional recommendations are ALWAYS welcome !!
