Make a titanium frame top larger than 8-6? I am trying to build a maintenance free rod on a Lamiglass 1081M blank and I am at a loss to explain why I can't find a top that would fit let alone my older blanks with a 10 tip. Is there no market for such a thing? Re: Does ANY guide manufacturer ....

I've got them up to a size 12-11, but only from Japan. Problem is it seems FUji has changed the properties of "Tiatnium Tip Tops", and now they seem to be turning green in the SW. At least my last batch did. Re: Does ANY guide manufacturer ....

I had the same problem do you think they will replace the tip no rust so they claim? Re: Does ANY guide manufacturer ....

My understanding was that there are two types of guides that "contain" titanium ; one is a solid titanium frame and the other
is SS coated with titanium. Re: Does ANY guide manufacturer ....

Fuji uses a titanium alloy not a plating over something else. If you cannot get a top large enough to fit your rod tip why not wrap on a single foot ti guide in the size you want there, or modify a dbl. foot ti guide by bending one leg underneath the tip and wrapping it on that way. Thanks Richard, I had been obsessing so much over the fact that I couldn't get what I wanted that I didn't actually try to solve the problem. Re: Does ANY guide manufacturer ....

All my SW rods have titanium guides and still I need to rinse them in fresh water or they will show some sign of corrosion. Alot of customer rods I have seen come back show it really bad as they dont wash them at all. Re: Does ANY guide manufacturer ....

I guess that raises the question of whether titanium (other than the weight) is really worth the added expense? If it worked as advertised, a surf rod would be
the ultimate place to use them. Re: Does ANY guide manufacturer ....

I have a few SW rods from 2-3 years ago which use Fuji guides & tip tops and have never really been washed/rinsed, which show NO signs of corrosion. It's only teh new tip tops I recieved in my last order from Japan back in MArch. I posted pictures. I do not have a single GUIDE which looks like this, not even those from teh same order.
For me tehy worked as advertised outside of thatbatch of tip tops, and for me was well worth the additional cost of the Fuji TI's. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
