Is there a cheap and easy way to mortise a cork insert? I was thinking about gluing some sandpaper to the foot of an old reel. Should I worry about the cork chipping over time? Re: Mortising cork insert?

Cork isn't going to chip. You can tear or dent it if you're very rough, but overall it's pretty resilient.
You can easily mortice cork by sanding. Start with a file if you like, but go easy - it reduces very quickly. .............. Re: Mortising cork insert?
