I am in the process of making my first tiger wrap.
I have the first layer completely done, and the second layer is ready to put the finish on. It has been wrapped and the sacificial thread has been removed. I have white and Black as the base threads, and royal blue as the second thread. One thing is not clear to me, as I have read and re-read the articles. Do you put CP on the upper level of thead? Based on my limited experience, I would think not, as I would guess it would be detrimental to the gap. I have gotten this far, without a major mistake. I can see the holographic effect without the thread finish. Thanks in advance Bert Nagy, Lawrenceville, GA Re: Tiger Wrap

Yes, put CP on it. If you don't, the blue will tend to go transparent or bleed the colors from underneath. You may still get some of the effect, but it won't be nearly as striking.
The effect comes from the light hitting the gaps and the covering of some threads and not others (hence the wild burnishing on the bottom layer). If you let the top layer turn translucent, or bleed the bottom colors through, the effect is lost or becomes much more subtle. ............... Re: Tiger Wrap

I am at the same stage of a Tiger wrap as Bert....
When I put CP on the bottom layer it seemed to get soaked up fairly quick. I did not thin the CP( Should I ) The wrap looked good but with the CP on it felt pretty much like it did before I put the CP on. Is this normal? I could see the layer of CP when I put it on but once it soaked in and dried was pretty much unseen. Suggestions? Re: Tiger Wrap

Tommy,
Your Email was hidden, so I am replying here. I did not put CP on the bottom layer. I used white NCP with black. I did put 2 coats of CP on the top layer. I think I should have put only one on, as the threads really got darker. I put the thread finish epoxy (Flex coat) on yesterday, and it looks pretty good. In retrospect, I wish I had only put on one coat of CP on the top layer. I do like the results I got, considering it was my first attempt. Regards Bert Nagy Re: Tiger Wrap

Bert,
I started to do 2 coats on bottom... Only did one. I am doing 1 on top then epoxy. We'll see how it goes... Still would like ot know if I should thin the CP or not? Did you? I'd also like to know about wiping off the extra. I had no extra and the threads soaked it up very quick. I had never used CP before so I don't know how it should act. I read a post where someone said to let it dry for about 12+ hours. Mine was dry in like 2 but I was in the garage about 90+ degrees. Will see as usual I'm certain it will be a learning experience. Do not thin the CP - that makes it mostly just water and water will not seal anything, it just evaporates.
