Tiger wrap over ferrule joint ?

Any problem doing a tiger wrap over the ferrule joint on a rod. If it is not a problem I would like to do this as an underwrap for the stripper guide on a 13' surf rod.
Here's where my "newbieness" will shine thru. My only concern for using the tiger wrap on the ferrule is I currently undrstand the ferrule wrap is suppose to add hoop strength to the ferrule. That begs the question if the first under layer of 2 threads is done loosely (to allow for uneven burnishing) then--- Does this loose wrap still provide adequate strutural support to the ferrule ? Does it make any difference if the first wrap is a bit loose, as long as the top layer is sufficiently tight (not overtight)? Any special considerations when using a tiger wrap as an underwrap ? Hope my questions make sense- if not hopefully I can clarify. Thanks to all for your time and input. Re: Tiger wrap over ferrule joint ?

In theory, the application of epoxy over the wrap should add some additional resistance. For the most part, however, the only portion of the ferrule wrap that really matters is the first quarter inch - that's the part that ensures that a split out can't begin at the ferrule edge. So tighten that first little bit and then relax tension as you go up and you should be able to kill two birds with one stone.
Most good ferrules these days are internally reinforced as part of the lay-up. It's probably not going to be as much of an issue as you might think. .............. Re: Tiger wrap over ferrule joint ?

Thaks for that Tom, I do realize that my main written source of info, the Dale Clemens book, is a bit dated at this point.
I'll follw your suggestions, makes sense to me. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
